Try this test with someone who is knowledgeable about music. Let them hear this clip but don't let them know who it is, I guarantee they will be surprised.
This group (Mike, Davey, Micky and Peter) deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

My husband is a huge Monkees fan. It's too bad they've never gotten the consideration they deserve.
I remember when you played this for me in your car, and was surprised that it was the Monkees -- I like Dolenz, et al just fine, but this song really impressed me.
Hi Ave. Jane, I think some day they will. The people that know music believe they deserve their day in the hall of fame. Case in point, after the clip you'll can click on a short with Frank Zappa and Mike Nesmith. Also, there is a commercial with Ringo and the Monkees.
B2, You were my real test. Once you were impressed I knew everyone else would be too. To date, only my brother has guessed who was singing, he even knew it was Micky, but then again he grew up with his older brother playing that stuff over and over.
